Bitmain Launches Fast and Efficient 4th generation Bitcoin mining ASIC

Energy Efficiency and Higher Hashrate, the Two Key Features in the ASIC

Now Bitcoin mining is going to be faster and efficient than every as Bitmain, mining hardware maker, has claimed its new Bitcoin ASIC BM1385, which is expected to be the most power-efficient chip available to the public. Nonetheless, the forthcoming BM1385, the Beijing company’s fourth generation ASIC, will be capable of 32.5 GH/s.

In a press release the company reports that the BM1385 chip was produced on the 28-nanometer process of Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) where the chips utilize a full-custom design process, and that each chip can attain a hashrate of 32.5 billion hashes per second (GH/s).

Thus, it has a 45% greater hashrate and uses 50% less electricity than Bitmain’s previous 28nm chip, the BM1384. Nonetheless, when the users compare the latest ASIC from Bitmain, they come to know that in the current generation of Bitcoin mining machines, the BM1385 is, by a wide margin, the most advanced chip available.

It appears crystal clear that alongside business clients, the chip will be available for consumers to purchase “in the near future”. The company further informs that it will also feature in the next Antminer model, the S7, currently in development. When powered with a core voltage of 0.66V, the chips have a power efficiency of 0.216 watts per gigahash-second.

Nonetheless, with such power efficiency, it has become the most power-efficient Bitcoin mining chip ever released to public. The company indicates that the BM1385 chip will be used in the S7 model of the company’s well-known line of mining machines, Antminer. Though the Antminer S7 is still in development, the next-gen chip will be available for consumer purchase shortly.
