Court Rules IRS Can Seek Information on Bitcoin Customers

A sovereign court on Wednesday ruled that a Internal Revenue Service can offer digital-currency-services association Coinbase with a “John Doe summons” that seeks minute information on a customers’ exchange from 2013 to 2015.

The IRS and a Justice Department are looking for information about a use of a digital banking bitcoin and a probability that it has been used to hedge sovereign taxation laws over a three-year period….
