Epik.com, a domain name operator that has a commission-free domain marketplace, is now accepting bitcoin to pay for website domains, according to thedomains.com, a news site for domain name information.
Epik customers can pay for domain registrations, SSL certificates, escrow, marketplace purchases, web development, hosting and other services using bitcoin. They can also pay with credit cards, bank transfers, Paypal and Masterbucks, an online currency that Epik created.
Customers can disburse proceeds to bitcoin at the prevailing exchange rate.
In a special October promotion, customers funding their Epik account during the month with a bitcoin get a 10% matching bonus in their account with 24 hours.
Matheus Leite, director of product management, managed and led the bitcoin implementation. He said bitcoin, known as the “frictionless currency,” enables instantaneous payments without payment processing fees, globally. The cryptocurrency removes intermediaries such as banks that charge a fee on every transaction.
Bitcoin also makes it easy to send funds in any denomination, Leite noted. “All you need is a digital wallet and the cryptographic payment address,” he said. “There are no forms to fill, no sharing of sensitive data, and no risk of unauthorized charges through a saved payment method.”
Merchants receive the
