Ex-Secret Service Agent Cops To Silk Road Bitcoin Theft

Law360, New York (September 1, 2015, 12:13 PM ET) — A former special agent with the U.S. Secret Service admitted Monday in California federal court to using his position as an investigator to steal hundreds of thousands of dollars of bitcoin from illicit accounts on the Silk Road website.

Shaun W. Bridges, a former investigator on the a Baltimore-based Silk Road task force, said in a sealed plea agreement that he used an administrative account in 2013 to steal approximately 20,000 bitcoin from various Silk Road users, according to the U.S. Department of Justice.
