The Germany security firm G Data released its PC Malware report for the second half of 2015 which stated that nearly 60% of “evil” websites are hosted in the US – in the previous half-year, the US hosted 43.3%. The US hosts such a large percentage of malicious websites that the other top countries, Russia, Canada, and China combined only make up 14% of malicious websites. European countries are almost nonexistant in the report with only Italy and Germany registering in at 6% combined.
Interestingly, the amount of websites described as “evil” rose by 45% which shows that the biggest threats to internet users are the websites they visit – and the threat is ever-growing.
According to the report, gambling sites were the most promiment of evil sites, making up nearly 19% of them. Trailing the gambling category are blogs, tech sites, and health sites, clocking in at 13%, 11%, and 10%.
