Web Summit

This year’s Web Summit — the best and largest technology conference in the world — is expected to be a truly big one. The conference will have over 69,000 attendees which gathered from 159 countries around the world. It is being held in Lisbon, and it will have more than 1,200 speakers.

Reports claim that there will be over 1,800 start-ups, 2,600 media representatives, and 1,500 technology investors. Considering the popularity and the size of the event, everyone is waiting to see how will all the different firms mark the event. Right now, all participants are excited to spend four days by sharing thoughts and interesting insights, listening to inspiring talks, and establishing new connections and partnerships.

Blockchain announces new partnership

The company called Blockchain, which is among the leading crypto wallets in the world, already made headlines by announcing a partnership with Stellar Development Foundation. They also announced a giveaway of $125 million in XLM. The giveaway will be in form of an airdrop, where all who sign up will be entitled to $25 worth of XLM.

Anyone with a Blockchain wallet is free to participate in the airdrop, with the first batch of coins being sent later this week.

eToro presents its new wallet

While Blockchain seems to have opened the event with this announcement, it is not the only one that had something to say. A well-known multi-asset investment platform known as eToro also had a large announcement to share. They stated that a new crypto wallet is ready to roll out. The wallet has been anticipated for a long time already, and it will support several cryptos as soon as it gets launched. Supported coins include Bitcoin, Ethereum, Bitcoin Cash, and Litecoin.

In addition, eToro stated that numerous other coins, fiat currencies, crypto-to-crypto conversion, and more will also arrive shortly. Finally, the first 100,000 users that decide to download eToro’s new wallet will get $21 in Ethereum, which is around 0.1 ETH.

Crypto platforms’ new initiatives

Next announcement during the event came from the crypto platform known as BTC.com. The platform stated that they will give away cards that can store Bitcoin Cash on their stand in order to promote crypto. All that interested parties need to do is visit their stand and download the platform’s wallet. In doing so, they will receive $2 worth of Bitcoin Cash or 0.0030 BCH on their new card.

The offer is designed to promote crypto adoption, and it has everything that a crypto novice would need in order to start learning about this trend. Apart from the card, they will also receive help with setting up their new wallet and even a quiz.

A similar move was made by Bitstamp, which also decided to start educating newcomers. The exchange launched a quiz #cryptomyths in order to explain what is true and what is false in regards to the crypto world. Those willing to participate will earn a bonus fee of $10 right at the start, and they can use this money during their first trade.

While there will undoubtedly be many who will label these efforts as marketing strategies, the fact is that crypto space needs to raise awareness and spread the word. No matter what might be the plan behind the initiatives, the firms are still doing their part in driving adoption.
