John Mcafee Backs Off Plan to Reveal the Identity of Satoshi Nakamoto

John McAfee, the infamous cybersecurity pioneer, and alleged fugitive says he will not reveal the identity of the person who created Bitcoin, Satoshi Nakamoto.

A few days ago, the eccentric computer programmer claimed to know the real creator of Bitcoin. He said impostors claiming to be Nakamoto are hurting the cryptocurrency industry. According to him, false claims from frauds like nChain founder Craig Wright are negatively affecting the growth of cryptocurrency markets. He took to Twitter to threaten that he would unmask Satoshi if he did not come forward and reveal himself.

“The who is Satoshi? Mystery must end! First: It is not the CIA nor any agency of any world government. IT IS a collection of people, but the white paper was written by one man, who currently resides in the US. If he does not come forward, these narrowings will continue.”

However, McAfee has had a change of heart when it comes to unmasking Satoshi Nakamoto, according to Bloomberg. He said that publicly disclosing the identity of the Bitcoin’s inventor would risk his extradition to the United States. “The US extradition request to the Bahamas is imminent. I met with Mario Gray, my extradition lawyer, and it is no clear that releasing the identity of Satoshi at this time could influence the trial and risk my extradition. I cannot risk that. I’ll wait,” he said.

McAfee has been associated with many scandals in the past and is no stranger to controversy. As Coindoo reported earlier, McAfee who is a US presidential candidate, left in an exile on a boat after the International Revenue Services (IRS) charged him on tax fraud. IRS indicted him for using cryptos in criminal acts. He admitted that he had not paid taxes for 8 years. He was however unaware of the nature of the case filed against him.
