The cryptocurrency, which has many similarities to Bitcoin and has often been likened to its digital sibling, had reached as much as $80.28 at the time of report, according to CoinMarketCap.
At that price, Litecoin has risen more than 1,730% from $4.33 at the start of 2017.

Litecoin’s Return Surpasses Bitcoin
While Bitcoin has grabbed headlines this year by moving increasingly close to reaching $5,000, its total return has been far less than that of Litecoin’s.
At the time of report, Bitcoin’s price had risen more than 400% YTD, but that figure represented less than one-quarter of Litecoin’s 2017 price rally.
