As 2020 is kicking off in earnest it is natural to look to the future for a brighter future. A new car, a better job, promotion, lose that holiday weight, etc. These are common resolutions for people the world over.

But what about crypto resolutions? Do you want to become a better trader? Find the next 1,000x gem? Or hang out with your anonymous internet friends and industry insiders?

While I have no idea which coins will pump in 2020 (please DOGE), I can help with that last example and have compiled a list of the top Crypto Conferences of 2020. While this list is nowhere near comprehensive, it should point you in the right direction when planning your travel schedule.

Blockchain Economy

Did you know that Turkey is into crypto? Like REALLY into crypto, so much so that 20% of the population owns some. That’s right, 1 in 5 people are “hodlers” over there. As a melting pot of cultures, Turkey has been quick to establish regulations around blockchain and become a hotbed of activity.

Geographically situated to serve both the Middle East and Eurasia, this will be the largest conference in the area. Exhibitors from both private and public sectors alike will be present, representing over 60 different countries. Turkey also has over 100,000 millionaires living within its borders, who knew?

Speakers – John McAfee, Tom Lee, Altcoin Sara, Andy Cheung, Cal Evans

Date – February 20-21th, 2020.

Location – WOW Convention Center, Istanbul / Turkey

Blockchain Expo Global

Many conferences claim to be the largest in the world but Blockchain Expo Global may indeed be that. With over 9,000 attendees last year with 5 co-located events, this year’s conference will be focusing specifically on the future of enterprise technology.

300 exhibitors and 500 speakers will keep the information flowing, attendees are advised to take notes. Some of these speakers include members of the European Union, SWIFT Network, FedEx, and Nasdaq.

The Bank of England will be sending their Head of Future Technology there as well. Now, why would the bank of England be interested in blockchain technology I wonder?

Speakers – William Lovell, Ioana Surpateanu, Leanne Kemp, Mariana Gomez de la Villa, Johan Toll and many more

Date – March 17-18th, 2020

Location – Olympia, London.

Blockchain Week 2020

Hong Kong Blockchain Week is in its second year as a conference taking place in early March. Last year a staggering 3,500 attendees showed up, quite an accomplishment considering the market was deep in a bear slump.  Of those attendees, 38% were founders or entrepreneurs, and 21% were executives, a solid audience for a market with a high demand for leadership and management.

Themes this year will include STO’s, Cybersecurity, Blockchain for Enterprise, and Healthech/Medtech. The speaker list has not been released but last year saw Ran Neu-ner, Brian Kelly, Tone Vays, and Charles Hoskinson.

Speakers – Ben Goertzel, David Drake, Michael Nye, Ran Neu-ner, Glenn Woo

Date – March 2, 2020 – March 6, 2020

Location – Ocean Park Marriott Hotel – Hong Kong, China

Blockchain and AI Africa Conference 2020

Africa is often overlooked and underserved in the tech world. But rest assured, its population of 1.3 billion is rapidly catching up to the rest of the world. With most of the population under the age of 25, most have eschewed traditional desktop computing and use their mobile phones as their gateway to the internet.

The African conference speakers will be discussing scaling, security, and AI and blockchain’s impact on industries around the globe. Local and international speakers will represent banking, bio-tech, cloud computing, and government regulation.

Speakers – Tone Vays, Michael Glaros, Gary De Beer, Anrich Daseman

Date – March 11, 2020 – March 12, 2020

Location – Johannesburg, South Africa

TOKEN2049

If you attended Blockchain Week 2020 in Hong Kong, you might want to stay for TOKEN2049. Taking place 2 weeks after Blockchain Week 2020, and also in Hong Kong, TOKEN 2049 is claiming to be the premier crypto event in Asia. Last year over 2,000 attendees and 100 speakers from over 70 countries gathered to swap stories of getting rekt on Bitmex and trade Rare Pepes. I actually have no idea if memes were shared, but the lineup of thought leaders, founders, and visionaries speaks for itself.

On second thought, maybe just go to this conference to talk with Gabor Gurbacs. As the main driver behind the VanEck Bitcoin ETF, I think he is the one I would prefer to have a drink with.

Date: March 17, 2020 – March 18, 2020

Location – Kerry Hotel – Kowloon, China

Speakers – Charlie Lee, Justin Sun, Charles Hoskinson, Saifedean Ammous, Dovey Wa, Gabor Gurbacs

While still in the planning stages, InvestCon is ramping up to be a big opportunity for the crypto devoted to gain access to the major players in Malaysia and SE Asia in general. Expect C-level executives from some of the largest banks and payment processors to be listening attentively to everything crypto/blockchain-related.
