The U.S. is Investigating Another Supposed Series of Russian Hacks

Authorities in the United States have started investigating a series of Russian Intelligence cyberattacks gathering information from The New York Times and other major organizations. The hacks have been discovered by authorities over the past few months, news outlets reported earlier this week. The targeted attacks are believed to be related to the U.S. Democratic party, the report says. Earlier hacks have also taken place against the Democratic Party this year.

Law enforcement officials claim that the hacks are taking place in American organizations outside of government organizations, to gain a better understanding of the current political scene. In the coming months the United States presidential election will take place on Tuesday, November 8th.

Weeks before the Democratic National Convention, WikiLeaks released over 19,000 emails from computers of the party’s headquarters in Washington. WikiLeaks did not release the source of the information, but U.S. experts believe it was conducted by Russian hackers.

Amongst the mass amount of emails that were released, some showed party officials favoring Hillary Clinton’s nomination over Bernie Sanders, who ended his run for President, and endorsed Clinton.
