The Canadian offshoot of the fast food chain Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) is currently accepting Bitcoin as a means of payment via BitPay. Unfortunately, the whole thing is much more complicated than it sounds. Pay at checkout with a cryptocurrency – that’s not how the payment process works.
Unfortunately, you can not just go to a branch in Canada to pay for the menu you want using Bitcoin at the counter. KFC’s offer has been limited to a single product, the Bitcoin Bucket, and will only be accepted for a short time. The bucket full of chips in waffle form with two sauces and chicken pieces can only be ordered online and can be delivered exclusively to your home. Including fees, taxes and delivery costs come together per bucket converted around 22.76 euros. Five dollars will be charged by the provider only for the novel payment option. Not a cheap affair so.
For this, the person behind the pseudonym Satoshi has been promised a court of honor free of charge if she reveals her identity to the company. KFC Canada currently sells exclusively through Bitcoin. Via Twitter it was announced that it would be considered at the moment to accept other crypto currencies as a means of payment in the future.
