Earlier this week, Sarah Nizze, marketing director of Bosch, announced on social media that the company is implementing IOTA in its latest car project.

Bosch sees a number of applications for IOTA in a world where vehicles communicate and negotiate autonomously. An example of this is when autonomous cars are grouped on a road to reduce drag and therefore fuel consumption. This is called platooning, and is already known by professional cyclists and also by birds to improve the aerodynamics. With IOTA, the cars that communicate with each other can take advantage of the benefits of platooning and save fuel, and this type of communication can be done and paid through the Tangle network.
Bosch and Tesla
In July of last year, the BBC reported that Bosch announced it was working with the company of entrepeneur Elon Musk, Tesla. The goal is to differentiate Tesla’s car from competitors such as Uber and Google technologically. BBC journalist Joe Miller was allowed to test drive the latest prototype of the company equipped with Bosch software. The company hopes to provide all of its cars with this software over the next five years. It was not confirmed if this prototype already has a connection to the IOTA-Tangle network.
Bosch and Daimler
Daimler and Bosch are planning joint robot taxis
Daimler and Bosch apparently plan together the commercial use of Robo taxis. This reports the industry magazine Automobilwoche. The two German companies therefore want to bring their vehicles faster than the Google sister Waymo on the road. That should be difficult, because the Americans have already received the operating permit for Robo taxis.
“The cooperation with Bosch is going very well. Anyone who knows the usual product development times knows that the introduction of appropriate systems is within reach, “said Daimler Strategy Director Wilko Stark of Automobilwoche. The cooperation between the two groups in the development of self-propelled systems had already been announced in April 2017.
The car company Daimler already has a great deal of experience in the management of vehicle fleets with its mobility services Mytaxi, Via and Moovel.
Unlike Waymo, the series vehicles of the manufacturer Fiat Chrysler use and extend this to self-propelled technology, the Robotaxi from Stuttgart is designed from the ground up as an autonomous taxi and the report also does not come on the market. According to information from Automobilwoche, these are vans based on the V-Class.
Volkswagen is also working on Robotaxi concepts such as the self-drive study Sedric. Furthermore, the Wolfsburg have invested $ 300 million in the Uber rival Gett.
