  • Craig Wright, An Australian-born computer engineering expert and the driving force behind cryptocurrency Bitcoin SV, is making headlines again.
  • He once again attempted to prove that he is the pseudonymous person who authored the Bitcoin Whitepaper.

On August 22, the most controversial figure in the crypto community Craig Wright – who has been proven to be lying on so many occasions – posted the Bitcoin Whitepaper on the Social Science Research Network (SSRN), a repository of scholarly articles that can be uploaded and uploaded by anyone, giving credit to himself as the sole author. He noted that he had penned the report on the 21st of August 2008.

Wright’s posting of the Bitcoin whitepaper on the SSRN website comes barely weeks after he filed copyright registrations for the original Bitcoin code and the Bitcoin whitepaper. However, as CoinDesk reported, a mere registration isn’t recognition of ownership by the US Copyright Office. The Copyright Office wrote:

“As a general rule, when the Copyright Office receives an application for registration, the claimant certifies as to the truth of the statements made in the submitted materials. The Copyright Office does not investigate the truth of any statement made.”

Over the years, several individuals have claimed to be Satoshi Nakamoto but all turned out to be false claims. And Wright is perhaps the most talked-about personality who claimed to be Bitcoin’s creator. He has been firm on his claim since 2015.

He never provided good evidence, nevertheless

However, his claim has been subjected to scrutiny on discussion forums, social media, and message boards. In 2016, he supposedly produced mathematical proof that he was the currency’s elusive creator. But, several experts in the cryptocurrency community including Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin questioned the evidence Wright had made public. They rubbished his claims and even gave him a new name “Faketoshi” which he hates.

Interestingly enough, Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao and tech stalwart Elon Musk have also joined the movement against Wright.
