The Japanese company Metaplanet, which has acquired 3,050 Bitcoin since April of last year, has hired Eric Trump, Donald Trump’s son, as a new advisor. This appointment is intended to help the company achieve its goal of becoming a “global leader” in the Bitcoin economy.

Eric Trump is invaluable to Metaplanet

According to Metaplanet CEO Simon Gerovich, Eric Trump is invaluable to the company: “His business experience and his love for the Bitcoin community will be invaluable in accelerating Metaplanet’s vision of becoming a global leader among Bitcoin companies.”

“As a globally recognized top business executive, Eric Trump brings tremendous experience in real estate, finance, brand development, strategic corporate growth, and is a leading voice in the global adoption of digital assets,” Metaplanet said.
This was a good move for the share price, which rose nearly 18 percent at the start of trading today. This makes sense, given that Eric Trump is the son of the current President of the United States, who also speaks positively about Bitcoin.

Metaplanet aims to reach 10,000 Bitcoin by 2025

Metaplanet has ambitious goals. The company aims to increase its holdings to 10,000 Bitcoin this year.

To achieve this, however, it will have to move quickly, as the counter currently stands at 3,050 units. This could only be achieved if the market continues to stabilize. Without the help of a rising Bitcoin price, it will be significantly more difficult for Metaplanet to raise additional capital.

With Eric Trump on board, however, it might be somewhat easier for Metaplanet to convince investors. Trump himself not only owns Bitcoin but has also invested in Ethereum, Solana, and Sui.
