While many altcoin investors often have negative words for Bitcoin, Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse recently spoke positively about the mother of all cryptocurrencies. At the Digital Asset Summit in New York, he clearly stated: “I’m bullish on Bitcoin, period.” This statement garnered particular attention, as representatives of altcoins like XRP are often critical of Bitcoin.
Ripple CEO has invested in Bitcoin since 2012
Brad Garlinghouse, the most important person in the XRP world, spoke very positively about Bitcoin at the Digital Asset Summit. His clear statement, “I’m bullish on Bitcoin, period,” garnered attention, even though other speakers, such as Strategy CEO Michael Saylor and US President Donald Trump, had even more enthusiastic words for the cryptocurrency.
Garlinghouse further explained that he first encountered Bitcoin at a conference in 2012 and invested in the cryptocurrency for the first time. It’s worth noting that the Ripple CEO emphasized that he has never sold his Bitcoin holdings since then. “I’ve used Bitcoin for various transactions, but I haven’t sold it,” he told the audience.
Ethereum founder also bets on Bitcoin
Accordingly, Garlinghouse is likely to be pleased with his large Bitcoin fortune today. But in fact, the Ripple CEO isn’t the only well-known figure in the altcoin space who is optimistic about the mother of all cryptocurrencies.
Vitalik Buterin, the most important figure in the Ethereum ecosystem, also invests part of his wealth in Bitcoin. As the developer admitted at the end of January, he holds around 10 percent of his portfolio not in Ethereum, but in other cryptocurrencies, primarily BTC. According to estimates, around $50 to $80 million of Buterin’s wealth is in Bitcoin, while his Ethereum holdings are still worth around half a billion dollars despite the falling price.
