Cashport: A New Software Developer Kit for Bitcoin Cash

Handcash Developers Launch 'Cashport', a Developer Kit for Bitcoin CashHandcash developers have released a new tool for programmers that allows them to utilize bitcoin cash (BCH) micropayments. The SDK Cashport is a system that uses the Bitcoin Cash network as a payment rail and connects to the company’s Handcash wallet. Cashport offers one-click onboarding with Handcash wallet users and there are no fees for the service itself, only the standard BCH network fee. Additionally, the service works in a non-custodial fashion, which means the application or web service never holds users’ funds. When the team was asked on Reddit if the Cashport SDK was something like Cash ID and the Money Button combined for websites, the Handcash team’s product designer, Alex Agut, clarified, “that’s one way to look at it.”

“But [Cashport] is also for mobile apps and games — The goal is to create an ecosystem where your money is always available through thousands of apps and games,” Agut detailed on Reddit. “Just one account — No more deposits or withdrawals, copy and paste or QR codes — Just flows,” the Handcash representative added.

Agut details that all of the services are tethered to the owner’s Handcash wallet and the SDK can also be used for developing games and mobile applications. He further states that the tool works silently in the background, so the developer can concentrate on the API and user interactions. Examples would be micropayments on social media, in-game money, and a pay-per-minute type of model.

“We wanted a very easy way for developers and businesses to implement micropayments with zero bitcoin knowledge,” Agut explained.

Alex Agut: ‘APIs on Any Kind of Interaction or Event You Wish’

Right now the SDK is available for Android and web typescript systems, and both are open source on Github under the open standard MIT License. The Cashport website states that an iOS version of the codebase will also be released in the near future. With the onboarding feature, users with the Handcash wallet will be able to access things with just ‘one-click,’ an action that pushes the Handcash ‘handle’ identification system and the wallet’s data to the developer’s application.

The Handcash developers believe the Cashport system is a great component to monetize user interactions with bitcoin cash. The platform’s creators say that programmers can now focus on building quality content. According to the team, developers can go to the Cashport website, obtain some API keys and implement the SDK. After that, “money has never been simpler,” the Handcash developers state.
