Vit Jedlicka, president of Liberland, will be a featured presenter at the sixth d10e conference, to be held in Bucharest, Romania Feb 21 to 22. The conference, launched in 2014 by Bitcoin Foundation Chairman Brock Pierce, focuses on decentralization technologies and will host 40 presenters including a fireside chat with Jedlicka.
Liberland, a micronation claiming a parcel of disputed land on the western bank of the Danube river, between Croatia and Serbia, plans on using bitcoin as its currency.
Jedlicka’s Vision
Jedlicka, the first president of Liberland, is working to create a utopia on what he believes is unclaimed land between Croatia and Serbia. In addition to having bitcoin as its currency, there would be no mandatory taxes or gun control.
Jedlicka and a group of three friends planted a flag on the land in 2015 and elected him the president. He has since signed up close to half a million citizens online and has appointed ambassadors-in-waiting and a cabinet. He has raised funds from rich libertarians and through crowdfunding. He has also printed passports.
Conference Themes
Conference themes include blockchain technology, disruptive culture, the sharing economy and the future of work.
“Decentralization is an unstoppable consequence of the exponential technologies that we see around us, implemented by passionate and creative teams all over the world,” said David Orban, managing partner at Network Society Ventures and a conference keynote speaker. “For Network Society Ventures to be at d10e is to be at the center of this phase transformation in our socio-economic organization, and I am excited to be keynoting it.”
Gary Whitehill, a futurist who pioneered the Entrepreneur Week global network for business owners, will also be a keynote speaker.
Mike Costache, entreprenuer, author and investment banker joined the d10e team following last year’s Amsterdam conference. He said attendees will gain insights into the overall state of decentralization, actionable knowledge and a unique cultural and educational experience.

Why Romania?
“Romania may not come to anyone’s mind when thinking about the world’s most promising places for tech and startups, but it does have a flourishing start-up community and is on its way to adopting decentralization in many areas of life and business,” Costache said.
“The d10e conference spearheads not only the technical tools of decentralization such as bitcoin, Ethereum and other blockchains, but [also] the sharing of resources in the peer-to-peer economy and new ways of collaboration and organization,” said Pierce. He added that the conference brings together cultural and technical minds in the decentralization ecosystem where ideas, conversations, debates and new partnerships can all be kindled.
The conference will host city tours in Bucharest, along with a trip to Transylvania, and networking socials.
The conference will be held at the Sheraton Hotel in Bucharest.
