An alarming study for traditional TV networks revealed that millennials watch considerably more videos on YouTube and other streaming sites than they watch TV. The study further explains that consumers aged 13-24 spend 12 hours a week watching YouTube videos, social media, and free online sources.

Video has become the chief source of online content, but current top video sites such as YouTube, are not taking advantage of the latest technological innovations and offer very little incentives to content producers. The social network of online video streaming is set to undergo another seismic shift that will boost their overall audience numbers.

Flixxo, a blockchain-based application developed by RSK (Rootstock) and PopCorn Time founders uses smart contracts and peer-to-peer file sharing to fundamentally transform social networks into social economies. Flixxo offers a decentralized alternative to YouTube that puts power, not to mention revenue, back into the hands of content creators. This is done through the use of the platform’s tokens (Flixx), where a content creator uploads a video to the peer-to-peer Flixxo network, and decides how much Flixx it will cost for a user to watch the video.

The smart contracts associated with the platform’s blockchain technology allows for a lot of versatility. The creators can determine what percentage of Flixx earned will be shared with partners as well as with users who seed the creator’s video. Once a user pays Flixx to watch a video, they can seed the video for other users to access. When other people decide to watch the video, the user earns Flixx for being part of the seeding network. The percentage of earning is purely dependent of the video’s creators so they can take a higher percentage of earned Flixx, than that of seeders, in order to promote their works.

Flixxo began when Adrian Garelik, co-founder of RSK, Federico Abad, the UX/UI professional who created PopCorn Time, Pablo Carbajo, a cryptocurrency expert who built the renowned Riecoin digital currency, Javier D’Ovidio, the CEO of Edrans, a worldwide company that specializes in big data and artificial intelligence, in that order have teamed up to realize this new innovation.

The Flixxo token presale will be held on October 13th and followed by a crowdsale for a total of 300,000,000 Flixx on October 24th, 2017. Flixx will be bought with ETH (Ether) where 0.00025 ETH equals 1 Flixx. The bonus program will offer 30%, 25%, 20%, 15%, and 10% discounts, for the purchase of Flixx during the first 24hours, 2-7 days, 8-14 days, 15-21 days, 22-30 days respectively.
