Even though a lot of people have some ill will toward Ripple, the company has done a good job so far. Their XRP asset is gaining a lot of attention as well as of late. However, a lot of people tend to forget it is certainly possible to spend XRP on goods and services as well. Although the merchant list may be a lot smaller compared to Bitcoin, it is still worth taking a look at. All of this shows there is a lot more to this digital asset than meets the eye.
The XRP Merchant Directory Is Quite Impressive
Most people use Ripple Labs’ digital asset as a way to speculate on the value across exchanges. This has lead to some interesting XRP price swings over the past few weeks. Some people made good money from trading the asset, whereas others overbought it. That is the nature of trading, unfortunately, and this particular asset is not designed to create a lot of volatility by any means.
Albeit XRP may not look like a consumer-grade asset, it is a valid payment option just like Bitcoin. There are quite a few merchants who accept payments in XRP for goods and services. All of these payments are processed through CoinPayments.net, which has become the leading asset, token, and altcoin payment processor. It is good to see some merchants enable as many different payment options as possible. There is a lot more to this world than just Bitcoin and popular altcoins.
Among the merchants accepting XRP payments are some interesting names. CoinHost, Torguard, The Bitcoin Store, and PexPeppers are just some of the merchants. There is also Bitfax, Upvotes Club, and a few tobacco and e-cigs shops which have enabled XRP payments through CoinPayments. All of this shows there are plenty of retailers willing to accept digital assets as a payment option. It is unclear how many of these stores have payments converted to Bitcoin, though.
Anyone who uses CoinPayments to process payments should consider enabling XRP too. It may result in a few extra customers along the way. With so many people actively trading this currency, there will also be people looking to spend it. The list of merchants can always use some additional names. In the end, it is nice to see merchants know XRP is a payment option too, and people are willing to use it. This will help the ecosystem grow as more time progresses.
