The Litecoin price (LTC/USD) has seen a few us and downs in today’s trading. The fifth-largest cryptocurrency on the market started the day around yesterday’s close of $51.40, but then it experienced a sharp drop, falling to an intraday low of $50.44. The start of the afternoon session saw another big swing, which allowed the Litecoin price to recoup its losses. At the time of writing, Litecoin was trading at around the $51.50 level, down 0.7% from the same time yesterday.
Litecoin’s market activity continues to be subdued, with the 24-hour trading volume remaining below $100 million. According to data from cryptocurrency tracker Coinmarketcap, some $78.6 million Litecoins have exchanged hands over the past 24 hours.
Between its three trading pairs, LTC/USD, LTC/BTC and LTC/EUR, the US-based GDAX exchange captures 15.5% of the trading volume. South Korea’s leading exchange Bithumb follows with nearly 15%. However, the Hong Kong-based trading platform Bitfinex is in the lead with 17% of the total volume.
In today’s trading, the Litecoin price stood at $51.54, as of 16:10 BST. According to data from Coinmarketcap, the cryptocurrency has lost 0.5% over the past 24 hours. Litecoin currently boasts a total market capitalisation of $2.7 billion, which makes it the fifth-largest cryptocurrency on the market. Its closest competitor Dash has a market cap of just over $2.3 billion, Coinmarketcap data shows.
